Marianne Hillemeier is a research associate with the Pennsylvania Office of
Rural Health. She is a native of Iowa and has a longstanding interest in
rural health and health disparities among children and youth. She received
bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing from the University of Iowa and
Yale University, respectively, a Master of Public Health degree in Maternal
and Child Health from Harvard University, and a Ph.D. in Sociology and
Demography from the University of Michigan. She is an Assistant Professor
in the Department of Health Policy and Administration at Penn State, and
has joint appointments in the Penn State School of Nursing, the Department
of Health Evaluation Sciences, and the Department of Obstetrics and
Gynecology in the Penn State College of Medicine. She is a member of the
Penn State Rural Women's Health Initiative and the Pennsylvania Office of
Rural Health Futures Council and also serves on the board of directors of
the Family Health Council of Central Pennsylvania.
