Building upon a strong partnership between the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Bureau of Health Planning and the Pennsylvania Office of Rural Health, the Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility Program in Pennsylvania compliments Pennsylvania's State Health Improvement Program by providing resources to the rural communities and hospital's served by the program. Pennsylvania has been successful in helping 13 rural hospitals become designated as Critical Access Hospitals.
